“Bigger & better than ever before!”
I have been in love with The Phantom of the Opera since 1986, Andrew Lloyd Webber worked his magic on the Gaston Leroux story, which seems like a million years ago. I drove my family insane as I learned to sing the score, they suffered through every wrong note and cracked voice until I got it right. Such patient souls, my family.
I’m not sure if there’s anyone out there who isn’t intimately familiar with the story, given it’s been worldwide broadway hit around the world since it debuted in 1986!
“The story centers on the thrilling love triangle between the mysterious Phantom, Christine and Raoul at the Opera Populaire in Paris. Lloyd Webber’s score includes the beloved songs “Music of the Night,” “Think of Me” and “All I Ask of You.”
The cast includes Derrick Davis as The Phantom, Katie Travis as Christine Daaé, Jordan Craig as Raoul, Trista Moldovan as Carlotta, David Benoit as Monsieur Firmin, Edward Staudenmayer as Monsieur Andre, Anne Kanengeiser as Madame Giry, Phumzile Sojola as Ubaldo Piangi and Emily Ramirez as Meg Giry.”
This brand new stage show from Cameron Mackintosh debuts in Calgary August 9th and runs until August 20th. It’s your lucky day because we’ve got a pair of tickets to the August 9th, 2017 show up for grabs!
(CONTEST HAS ENDED)
For the record, this is my favourite Phantom song to sing!
“The Phantom of the Opera made its world premiere in London’s West End in 1986, where it still plays today. Lloyd Webber’s musical thriller has been running on Broadway since 1988, where it has grossed over $890 million in ticket sales and recently celebrated its 25th anniversary.”

“Think of Me”… I love The Phantom as well and this song makes me think of my dear man whom we lost to cancer.
“Music of the Night” is my absolute favorite song from that score. Everytime I hear it, no matter who is singing, I get chills. It is a beautifully composed piece of music.
I love the high notes in “The Phantom of the Opera”. Beautiful!
All I Ask of You – was our wedding song 21 years ago!
I’ve never seen a broadway type show. I’ve always wanted to but life gets in the way. I would take a dear friend with me who could use a lovely evening out and honestly the title song gives me goosebumps.
I remember my parents taking me to see this when I was a teenager and just love the main theme song. This musical is the absolute favourite of my friend; we’re both searching for work right now. This would be a real indulgence that would be an amazing surprise for him.
I would absolutely love to see The Phantom of the Opera. I remembered when I was a young girl sitting with my mom as she explained the whole story to me after she saw it and I’ve always wanted to see it live ever since.
My favorite song is definitely “The Phantom of the Opera”.
I was trying to get one of my daughters to sing for this contest since they both love The Phantom of the Opera but they were too chicken. They both have never seen it live and would love to, except they did get the live video version from the library once. My oldest daughter was so into it that in high school when the movie came out she went to the theatre and watched it at least 4 times!
I love all the music but my favourite song would have to be The Phantom of the Opera because after all these years it still gives me goose bumps and butterflies. ⚘
I love the title song ? I can remember back in the 90’s there was even a techno remix of it
My fav song is definitely Music of the Night. I’d love to go see Phantom again, I saw it at the jub when I was a little kid and fell in love with musicals ?
I honestly can’t. I’ve never seen it but before my mom died in 2010, she said she wanted to see it. I couldnt deliver. Ever since, I’ve wanted to see it because my mom had amazing taste, so I KNOW this is a great show.
I’ll always be a sucker for the main theme. It’s one of the first things I ever taught myself by ear on the piano, and it always impressed.
I love the entire score, definitely some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s best work. My favourite is the Music of the Night
Masquerade is my favourite song from the score!
Masquerade – and I was told to not sing in public or to others. Tone deaf. Even my kids cringe. ???
New Recording 12.m4a
My 10 yr old practiced all day but I’m having trouble uploading the snippet. Her fave is Music of the Night and she would love tix! IMG_2810.JPG
Love Phantom… Music of the night
How to choose a favourite? Think of Me…. Music of the Night…. Masquerade…
Angel of Music. The entire score gives me shivers!
?? oh how I wore out that double cassette set! Hours and hours of listening so that I knew all the words and all the songs. I still love to sing along when I see the movie or listen to the music but wouldn’t want wears to bleed if I left a recording here… ? In which case I love everything about Masqurade, it is a production in of itself!
All I Ask of You- which happens to be the song hubby and I had our first dance to at our wedding.
Mysic of the Night forsure! First show i ever saw!!!
You can’t beat the intensity transitioning from the prologue to overture. “A little illumination gentlemen” cut to the organ. I’d like to see that again, best in theatre
My friends & I used to record ourselves singing Phantom through a ghetto blaster on to cassette.. wow, those high notes we attempted to hit were brutal! The main theme song, “The Phantom of the Opera”, is the song most dear to me. My daughter has never seen the show & I think it’s something everyone should see in their lifetime so I’d love for her to be my date!
I’ve only ever seen the move and would love to experience an actual live Opera performance. My fav songs would be Angel of Music and the Theme song. Both are classics.
My voice is just for the shower so I am opting to telling you my favourite song instead – All I Ask of You.
All of them, but if I have to choose, Angel of the Night.
Music of the night! This would be a perfect date night prize:) Good luck to everyone!
You really don’t want to hear me sing…. The Phantom would never come back to Calgary! I have also loved this musical since I was young. In fact, I bought the beginner sheet music for the piano of this entire musical and taught myself how to play the piano because of it! One of my favourite songs is probably Think Of Me… I love this whole scene. Thanks for the chance!
Masquerade, sing along every time but never in tune so won’t see a video of the mess lol
The song when Christine is looking in the mirror and The Phantom comes… gets me every time. ??
I love The Mirror = so vivid.
Angel of Music is my fave song! I’m too shy to sing on camera haha. Only when I’m drunk…which I am not at the moment.
All the songs in Phantom are my favourite. Music of the Night is one of my all time faves as well as the Phantom of The Opera. My choir director found an arrangement that had a bunch of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals – from Phantom, Cats, Evita, and Jesus Christ Superstar. 🙂
My favorite song from the score would be The Music of the Night! 😉
Think of Me just to name one. First musical that I ever saw when I was in grade 8. How much fun would it be to take my daughter who is now in grade 8 this year. lol I would sing some but no one wants to hear that.
My favorite is Masquerade. I only seem to see this on my birthday. First 25, then 28 so now i’m hoping for this year which’ll be … ummm much older 🙂
“Angel of Music”
I’ve seen the movie and would love to see it in theatre live. My favourite song is “All I Ask of You.” It’s comforting and nostalgic at the same time.
Yes! Masquerade! But so hard to pick one. Or perhaps the theme song Phantom of the Operat. So powerful. I used to listen to the soundtrack over and over when I was a teenager in the 80’s. I was transfixed by it. So exciting that it is coming back to Calgary.
My sister (who i would take to the show with me) would absolutely sing a snippet. She used to put headphones on and try to hit the high notes in Phantom of the Opera while i listened to give her feedback. It was not my favourite…. but now i love thinking back to that. I however will not be singing….. haha i will just say that The Phantom of the Opera in the first act is my favourite. 😛
My favourite song is Little Lottie. I absolutely love Phantom of the Opera. I would love to go. But best of luck to all the contestants
“All I Ask of You” is one of the most beautiful songs of all times and my favorite song from The Phantom of the Opera.
I’ve always loved Phantom of the Opera ever since I was a little kid and heard the Original London Soundtrack. My favourite all time song of Phantom is “The Phantom of the Opera”. I remember being so excited when my Showband played Phantom of the Opera for a show one year. I would love to be able to share this great show with my niece.
Growing up I had the tapes of the musical and I would listen and relisten to them almost daily. I still have the tapes but they don’t work so well anymore.
I am not a singer (although thankfully my Grand One students usually say I sound beautiful! LOL) so I will simply say that I love all of the songs but Masquerade always got me – so many beautiful voices joining together!
I won’t try to sing for you as i will automatically disqualify myself from the contest 😉 I will tell you that i have always wanted to see Phantom in person. My favourite song from the score is Music of the Night!
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again – The Phantom of the Opera
Just the name itself stirs emotion. I’ve never experienced an opera before and have been told that if I were to start, this would be the one.
I am in love with Phantom of the Opera. I first got to go as a teenager. I was captivated by the scene where Phantom and Christine were going down down down the stairs. When it came back to Calgary I was so proud of myself for saving and saving to buy my own ticket. Now I would love to share this with my teenage daughter.
Think of me is my favourite song. Ot starts so sweet and then the orchestra comes in and it just swells up. I love it.
