Baba’s ArT HauS also has free cookies
Baba’s ArT HauS (pronounced ‘house’, like the doctor, or a house) is a funky art gallery located just behind Westbrook Mall. Do you like supporting local artists? Are you a little bit spooky or weird at heart? Hope so! You’re in for a treat. It’s a duplex that has been transformed into space for artists to sell their wares, for a commission of 10%. Of course, people are welcome to show up and buy things too! Artists also enjoy having money I’ve been told. Something important: they aren’t your regular boring old art gallery. You might actually want to buy all the things, and you’ll be able to afford it.
Oh, also Baba’s ArT HauS is also an Airbnb. More on that towards the bottom.
From their website:
Art HauS is a community. A place where local art is created and sold, where psychic minds gather, where music is played and good times are shared. Here you will find one of a kind pieces at bargain prices. The artist makes the money, not the gallery. Every Saturday we are open to the public as a gallery. You can purchase any piece you see hanging on Baba’s walls. Too, if you in turn are an artist and have something to sell; we can help you! Any and all art accepted. We even offer psychic and tarot readings as well as numerology charts. Just by being in the HauS you will experience the healing powers of Himalayan salt lamps, powerful crystals, regular sage burning and home baked goodies. We recently started offering guided art classes of all kinds, so be sure to check back for updates!

The owners firmly believe that art is subjective, and if it’s invoked a feeling or a reaction, it’s done its job. It can be beautiful, it can be weird, it can be shocking, it can be all of the above.
Baba’s ArT HauS Photos
I took these when I dropped by. Everything you see is for sale, and every inch of this place has something to look at.
The above photos were taken on March 2nd, 2019.
The owners, Téa (Tay-ah) and Viktor
Téa and Viktor opened Baba’s ArT HauS in January of 2016 with just 5 artists. As people who appreciate the weird and different in life, they wanted a space to create and showcase their own art, as well as invite like-minded folks in the process. Having to wait until October to find spooky art and décor was to become a thing of the past.
- Téa creates black metal gnomes with preserved mushrooms on canvas, various terrariums, crystal art, love potions, protections spells, brooms, etc. Téa also provides Intuitive readings and are by donation only as she believes an experience should never be limited to how much money someone has. She is also available for off-site smudging and clearings. Art can be custom ordered depending on taste, need, and availability.
Viktor is a musician, all the available merchandise for his band VA is available for sale at Baba’s ArT HauS. More recently, Viktor has started offering sound healing out of Baba’s ArT HauS as well.

Go look at cool art, have a coffee, meet some interesting artists, make a new friend even.
Love these kinds of things! Calgary has some really cool artists, it’s nice to see this kind of space for them.
