My Petite Box: A Calgary Subscription Box Review (ENDED)

A Local Monthly Subscription Box

I’ve seen subscription boxes on Facebook over the last year or two but never really paid much mind to them. I’m picky, I hate surprises, and is it really worth the money or do you get the dollar store equivalent of products you’ll never use? I figured they can’t all be bad and I have a few friends who a box enthusiasts with nice products to show for it, so I thought I’d see what’s available right here in Calgary.

My curiosity was piqued when I came across My Petite Box, a local company that features only makers and businesses from Calgary and the surrounding areas! The contents of the box change every month and are a surprise until they land on your doorstep! But that’s not even the best part… IT’S TOTALLY AFFORDABLE!!

Check out their website!

My Petite Box – How It Works

For $35 a month, as a one time gift (treat yo’self) or monthly subscription , you receive a My Petite Box that contains 100% local products!. Simply head to their website, choose to get a gift or subscribe, and then wait for your monthly delivery of super awesome surprises and feel good knowing that you are supporting local!

I was pretty stoked on the concept so I asked the dynamic duo of Marianne and Mathilde, the creators of My Petite Box, if they could send me a box to review. I had to keep it a secret though because no one knows what’s in their box until it’s delivered. Thank you very much for letting us review My Petite Box! Even though this was sent to us for free for review purposes, our opinion is, as always, 100% genuine.

This month it was tea in the petite box!

My Pettite Box
It’s so cute

The box is exactly as they say, petite! It was super adorable and the packing was cute too. I’m a sucker for presentation! Immediately I could smell a London Fog latte and I got really excited because…..

My Pettite Box
What was inside

It’s tea from Tearrific! You may have seen Sam, the passion behind it all, in her Tea Wagon at local events, or at her new permanent home at Granary Road. Since 2013 Sam has been inviting Calgarians to fall in love with great tea as she creates gorgeous blends of tea that are all natural and free of the sweeteners and additives that can be found in commercial tea blends.

You can learn more about Sam and her tea here.

Included in the box were full sized bags of Lavender Earl Grey and Caramel Apple loose leaf teas, a container of biodegradable teabags, 3 sample packs of Farmer’s Market, Mulled Cider, and Strawberry Rhubarb blends, and a coupon for 15% off tea when you order from the Tearrific website.

My Pettite Box
yum

Mr and I both love tea and have a lot of tea pots and tea balls and fun little types of tea so this box was well loved by us both! I immediately tried to figure out how to make a London Fog for myself (note to self, get a milk frother thingy) and Mini laid claim to the Caramel Apple blend immediately. She was right to as it was perfect for being on holiday from school and life in general, and warmed us up during the cold snap!

My Pettite Box
Caramel Apple – Rooibos, apple pieces, calendula, natural flavours. Caffeine free.

My Pettite Box
Lavender Earl Grey – black tea, lavender, cornflower petals, natural flavours.

My Pettite Box

  11. Oooo… good question! I like boxes with a variety of products rather than a box full of the same type of product but seeing stuff from places like Camp Brand, plant, Unrefined, Silk Road, and cochu chocolatier would be amazing!
