Where To Find Dog Friendly Patios in Calgary
Below we’ve compiled a list of all of the bars, breweries and restaurants in Calgary that have dog friendly patios. Please let us know in the comments at the bottom if anything is missing! Make sure to familiarize yourself with the rules for each patio when visiting, which are usually made available in an easy to see location. Don’t hesitate to reach out and ask the business any questions.
- Ensure your dogs vaccinations are up to date
- If your dog doesn’t get along with other dogs, best not to bring them to a dog friendly patio
- Some places have dog food menus!
- Most patios close down for the winter
- Keep your dog leashed and under control at all times
- Dogs are not allowed on chairs/seats/benches as per Alberta Health Services

Bitter Sisters Brewing Co. is a craft brewery located right beside the Heritage LRT station. Their patio is dog friendly and quite large with lots of room between tables, and protection in case it rains. Bitter Sisters also serves food in addition to beer and kids are welcome.

Marda Loop Brewing Company has a dog friendly patio, which is sometimes even open during colder weather because they have some decent outdoor heaters. The brewery is kid friendly and they have a full food menu.

Annex Ale Project has a large dog friendly patio with benches and tables. There’s bike racks as well. Annex serves food in addition to beer, and they have a lot of indoor seating. They also make root beer and other sodas.

What Is A “Dog Friendly Patio?
It means they have paid for a license through Alberta Health Services to allow doggos on the patio. Dogs need to be well behaved and capable of being around other dogs with no fighting. Dogs need to be leashed at all times as well. In addition, owners are expected to immediately clean up any and all messes made by their dogs.

Do you know which breweries allow Dog’s inside besides Cold Garden?
At present time they’re the only one.
Marda Loop Brewery has a dog friendly patio…didn’t look through the whole list yet so not sure if it is on here 🙂

Bitter Sisters (SW) patio is Dog Friendly and kids until 9

They may not be in Calgary, but High River Brewing Company in High River is both dog and kid friendly.
AHS does not charge anything extra to patio owners. The just have to apply to allow dogs and agree to follow the city of calgary responsible pet ownership rules. It is totally up to patio owners so there is no reason not to allow dogs on all patios.

LIMERICKS ON Macleod Trail is dog friendly and minors to 8 pn
Village Brewery is not dog friendly, you have to leave your dog outside of the patio.
